A family-owned business, Carrell Crane & Heavy Hauling, Inc. is owned and operated by Greg and Rose Brooks. Greg worked as the lead heavy equipment driver for the company for over 8 years before acquiring the business in 2020. Prior to that, he had his own dump truck and log trucks and also did excavation work, as well as operating heavy equipment building roads. Greg’s wife, Rose, is the office manager and dispatcher for the company, changing careers after 20 years of teaching 2nd & 3rd grade in both the public and private sector.
History
Carrell Crane & Heavy Hauling, Inc. was created in 1937. The business focused on crane service, rigging, hauling heavy equipment and wrecker service. In 1972 the business was incorporated by John Carrell and David Carrell and included buying and selling wholesale and retail merchandise of every description, including food products, dry goods and furniture.
In 1986 the Carrell brothers began to sell off their cranes and Jim Gamache purchased the heavy hauling portion of the business. Jim gradually reduced the number of trucks and trailers hauling produce and other goods until he was left with 2 heavy haul trucks and a number of heavy haul trailers, focusing solely on moving heavy equipment.
2020 was the target year for Jim and the office manager to retire. Greg Brooks, an 8-year employee and lead truck driver, jumped at the chance to purchase the business and continue his love of all things heavy haul. Here we are today, continuing the reliable and dependable transportation of various heavy equipment, big or small, throughout Central Washington and the Pacific Northwest.
